Bereaved Mother

On September 22, 2016, we experienced our first loss at 30 weeks.  Our sweet Francesca Joy was stillborn. In the following days, months, and years, we quickly realized how little support there was for families like us and how we really had to go out searching for it.

Almost 10 years later, on February 24,2026, we found ourselves wearing those familiar, uncomfortable, terrible shoes. Our baby boy, Santino Salvatore passed at 17 weeks. This time, however, there was easier access to support. Before even delivering Santino, we were given information about The Still Remembered Project. I had heard of them in recent years & was able to participate in events like their Bereaved Mothers Day Tea, but I never in a million years would have thought I would need their support in this way again. Not only did they offer my husband and I resources, but we also left with a sibling bag for our 6 year old. In the bag was a teddy bear, which in her own words, “made her feel happy when she was feeling a lot of sad”. Having our living daughter feel seen and like this was also her loss was very important to me. It may seem like the smallest gesture, but it meant the absolute world to our family and to her.
